The House Impeachment: A Lesson in Hypocrisy for Our Troops
Wikipediadefines hypocrisy as: “Hypocrisy is the contrivance of a false appearance of virtue or goodness, while concealing real character or inclinations, especially with respect to religious and moral beliefs; hence, in a general sense, hypocrisy may involve dissimulation, pretense, or a sham.”
What our troops are seeing now from the Speaker of the House and her fellow Democrats now that the Democrats have pushed through the House of Representatives (Congress) the first in our country’s history, a partisan impeachment of the military’s Commander-in-Chief, President Donald J. Trump last Wednesday, is an expert masterclass in blatant hypocrisy. The Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi is now waffling on sending her two articles of impeachment through to the Senate for a trial. She is demanding of the Senate to do something that she and her fellow Democrats deliberately did not do during the House’s impeachment hearings, “fairness.”
The Cambridge Dictionary defines farness as: The quality of treating people equally or in a way that is right and reasonable.
Nancy Pelosi needs to understand the word before she uses it. She says she is concerned that the Senate will not be fair to Democrats during the trial phase of her impeachment of the President. Now, that is rich coming from someone who was totally unfair to the President and to the Republicans in the House during her 12 weeks of rushed impeachment hearings by two House impeachment hearing committees. Both committees (the House Judiciary Committee led by Democrat Jerry Nadler and the House Intelligence Committee led by Democrat Adam Schiff) ensured that the President and Republicans were not allowed to ask certain questions during their super-secret closed doors hearings and meetings, leaked selective in their favor information from those secret hearings and meetings, did not give the President or Republicans separate time to present their own witnesses, shut down Republicans many times during questioning in secret and open hearings and meetings because they did not like the questions, and left Republicans out of impeachment timetables, decisions and the final writing of the two articles of impeachment. They refused to even enter any Republican amendments to the two articles. So, anyone looking fairly and objectively at the House impeachment can only come to one conclusion. That Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat cohorts were neither fair nor honest in their approach to their partisan impeachment of the Commander-in-Chief. The only bipartisan event of this whole rushed impeachment process driven by the Democrats was the final votes to impeach where two Democrat Congressmen voted no to impeachment.
The Speaker demands fairness from the Senate when she offered none in the House. Now, where I come from, we would call her a hypocrite. Do as I say, not as I do. It is the height of nerve to demand from another body what you yourself did not or would not do. “Fairness!” The Speaker during a recent interview where questions were being asked about her impeachment and about her delays in sending the two articles of impeachment to the Senate for a trial declined to answer questions concerning her delays and hypocrisy. The Speaker said, “Any other questions because I’m not going to answer any more questions on this” trying to avoid any questions on the matter and the feckless press went along with it and did not ask any more questions. That is something they never do for the President. They keep asking the same questions over and over. Now remember, that during the Houses rushed impeachment process, the Speaker and her fellow Democrats said that this impeachment was an urgent matter, a serious matter of national security, so serious that they could not wait for the third branch of our government (the courts) to decide on issues of separation of powers when it came to the President protecting his administration from a run-away partisan Congress seeking confidential information. So now, where is this great Democrat sense of urgency now Nancy? Easy answer, nowhere, totally forgotten now, no need to rush. If it was so urgent then, why is it not so urgent now? They are just hoping you’ll forget everything they said back then. Maybe the Democrats are starting to feel the heat of what they did to the country, the Republicans and the President? Who know, but we will find out after the new year. There is one good point here we need not overlook, and that is until the House submits their two weak articles of impeachment to the Senate for trial, there is no impeachment, just a house vote on impeachment.
For our troops, what is the Speaker demonstrating to them? She has taught them, our veterans and for the country that what she and Democrats say and do is good for them, but not good for Republicans and the President. She has taught us that being two-face and hypocritical is acceptable if you are in a position of power. She has taught us that being partisan to the point that fairness is thrown out the window is also acceptable if you are a Democrat. Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats have taught us that is OK to discard over 800 years (1215 to present) of Magna Carta history to try and take down a duly elected president because you lost an election. Thank you, Madam Speaker, for setting the country back over 800 years. What’s next from you and your Democratic team, the brining back of Star Chambers with their secrecy, their irresponsible arbitrariness and oppressive results?
Is this really what we want Congress to teach to our troops, our children and to the rest of us? That it is OK to set aside fairness, that hypocrisy is acceptable, that we set aside over 800 years of the Magna Carta and our belief that everyone deserves and has the right to justice when Democrats want to. Even the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump deserves fairness under our current system. Just because the Democrats crave their power back, is this really the path we want to go down to regain their power? Do we really want to erase 800 years of history for them to get their power back? Well, you decide!
