The Lord was proud and He said," You are no longer Infantry. You shall bear the name of the Cavalry's Scouts. Go forth now and battle the darkness. The very trumpets of the angels will call you into battle." And the Lord took from them their blue cords, replacing them with Stetsons to set them apart, Golden Yellow Cords to show that they are warriors of the light, Golden Spurs to remind the beasts of their place, and sabers made from the same metal as Death's scythe to give them dominion over conquered souls.
I was given this poem some years ago and have looked for the poem many times to find more information about the poem, when and by whom was it written? It is a poem that has stuck with me all these years and I would love to know more about its origins as to give credit for it. If you have any information as to the origins of the poem, please send it to us at Military Shout-Out as we would love to have that information.
God Creates "The CAVALRYMEN"
And God said... "There is something missing in the world. The Infantry of my Army and the Dark one's clash... but there is no progress. I must do something."
So God took the greatest of the Infantry and created them a new. He gave them special dominion over beast and metal... a bond greater than all other soldiers. He made them so much smarter and stronger than the Infantry that half a battalion of them could bear the same burden and match the military might of a full battalion of Infantry. God noticed that they we're as proud, loud, and clumsy as their Infantry brethren. This worried the Lord due to their numbers being so small. So the Lord gave them a lighter step, keener senses, and a supernatural form of stealth and silence borrowed from Death himself.
And the Lord said, "Fear not your enemy, for if you die... you go not to hell, nor will you see constant peace of heaven for the thirst for battle is in your soul. You will go to a place I have created for you and you alone and that thirst will be eternally quenched. You shall be on the first line of defense against the dark one. You shall drink, be merry, and guard the very gates of hell. And I shall call this the “Fiddler's Green."
He sent these soldiers down to earth and they earned their spot above the Infantry. Years passed and still the Lord was not satisfied. He assembled the very best of the group he created. The soldiers fell in as silent professionals. And the Lord said, "You have done well and achieved greatness... but I now challenge you to become greater. From this day forth you shall fall under the ranks of Saint Michael and bear the wings of the angels. You shall strike from the sky and the shadows and no enemy will overcome you. The glimpses of you will send fear into the hearts of your enemies. Your fury will be like mine, and your enemy will have no choice but to cower in fear or run lest he be destroyed. Saint Michael saluted the Lord and took charge of these Cavalrymen.
